SMPLive was a private, whitelisted Minecraft survival server featuring several well-known content creators. The server was created by CallMeCarson and cscoop on March 1, 2019 and originally included 10 other members. The server quickly became popular, and it expanded to include 130 members. Despite its popularity and its contribution to the revival of Minecraft in gaming content, SMPLive closed on January 1, 2020. Many of its members then played on SMPEarth, which was created by a member of SMPLive, Wilbur Soot.

Members were only allowed to play on the server while streaming and focused on producing comedic content. For example, viewers often donated to streamers to place "hits" on other members of the server, which took the form of assassinations or pranks.

The main SMPLive wiki is the SMPLive Wiki.

SMP members[]

Over 130 content creators were involved with SMPLive, many of which moved to SMPEarth after SMPLive's closure. In order to join, applicants had to stream and have some relation with a founding member of the server.

Members included: CallMeCarson, Jschlatt, Wilbur, AntVenom, ArlusFinch, BeefStew, CaptainSparklez, ConnorEatsPants, cscoop, FitMC, GrunksPromise, Jack Manifold, JunkyJanker, LukeOrSomething, Michaelmcchill, Pokimane, Slimecicle, Sneegsnag, Ted Nivison, Traves, VoiceOverPete, Yahiamice, and more.

History[]

As SMPLive was mainly streamed on for comedy, members collaborated with each other for bits rather than to form a cohesive storyline. However, the server brought several members to the spotlight, including Schlatt and Wilbur, and introduced recurring jokes to several streamers' content.

Jschlatt[]

During SMPLive, Schlatt developed several iconic jokes, including:

  • The signature "funny mic", where Schlatt used a bad webcamera microphone to be loud for comedic effect;[1]
  • The catchphrases "What's poppin'?" and "dick and balls", where he showed videos of the former often and said the latter to anyone new to the server;
  • The "Schlatt-walk", where Schlatt walks rather than runs everywhere, even in intense situations; and
  • The scam "Schlattcoin", a fake digital currency (renamed golden nuggets) Schlatt sold in order to scam other members out of their diamonds.

Schlatt also ran for mayor, and although this campaign was unsuccessful, it started his "Schlatt2020" merchandise and contributed to his reputation as a businessman.

Wilbur Soot[]

SMPLive was Wilbur's debut as a streamer. He joined the server after asking Carson during a SootHouse video. He quickly developed a reputation as the "dirty crime boy" after running a heist against the server police, eating illegal golden apples, and brewing potions to prank other members of the server with. He also participated in the Schlattcoin scam and attempted to assassinate some members of the server in order to further the venture, although this backfired and led to a court case where he was sentenced to death by spleef (a punishment which was never carried out).

Although Wilbur took several breaks from the server, he returned once for the SMPLive Talent Show, which he won by singing "The Squid Song", and returned another time to create Whalebur Soot, a shop selling false whale facts. The most notable of these was "sperm whales can't cum".

Current status[]

SMPLive ended on January 1, 2020, and many of its members migrated to SMPEarth. While members discussed a season 2, this never came into fruition.
