The Season 2 Hardcore World is Ph1LzA's second Hardcore world, which began in March 2014. He survived for five years before famously dying to a baby zombie in partly enchanted golden armor and a spider on April 24, 2019. Before his death, he completed several massive builds, including the Ocean Monument, Sky City, and Chaos Caverns, and later created a montage of all of these.[1]

The end of Season 2 propelled Phil to fame. Several news sources, such as Minecraft and BBC, covered his Minecraft death.[2][3] The news coverage led to his subsequent rise on Twitch.

Phil created the Season 2 Hardcore world shortly after his computer's hard drive died, which ended Season 1. He streamed himself working on projects in the world often and had a lot of luck in world generation; for example, he quickly found a desert temple and spawned in a Nether fortress.

On April 24, 2019, while working on the witch farm, Phil confronted several mobs, including a creeper and a baby zombie in full, partly enchanted golden armor. When running from the baby zombie, a spider attacked and Phil died with a final score of 761,246.[4][5]

Projects[]

Spawn Chunk[]

The Spawn Chunk is the world spawn of Phil's Season 2 world built to resemble a literal chunk elevated above the island. Phil built a flattened chunk of land above the world spawn with some storage and other builds. He also stacked up two towers of ore, which he originally planned to continue building until the entire island was full of ore towers.

Nether Shroom[]

The Nether Shroom is a spawn-proofed area in the Nether that encompasses a Nether fortress. Alongside placing stone slabs on top of the Nether fortress and the surrounding area, Phil also built a large red mushroom that houses a farm for mobs that spawn in Nether fortresses, including blazes and wither skeletons.

Zombie Base[]

The Zombie Base is a terraformed desert area that includes a village. After destroying most of the desert by mining sand for his ocean monument draining projects, Phil decided to cover the area with dirt, transforming the former desert into a savanna. He also built a village there that housed several villagers, as well as a zombie statue.

Ocean Monument[]

The Ocean Monument is a drained and decorated ocean monument next to one of Phil's first mines in the world. Phil drained a circular section of the ocean centered on the ocean monument, surrounded the drained monument in a grassy, hilly landscape, and built several ice spikes around the drained circle. He also built a floating island with a tower as a viewing point.

Sky City[]

The Sky City contains a drained and decorated ocean monument below a fortress built on floating islands. Phil drained the ocean monument before replicating it with quartz, creating a double ocean monument style build. He then created a series of floating islands, upon which he constructed a fortress. He also built several islands around the monument, similar to the ice spikes around the Ocean Monument. One of these islands contains a pond, where Phil commonly fished.

End Realm[]

The End Realm is a partially flooded part of the End that contains an enderman farm. Phil created a star-shaped base of grass blocks between the End pillars that centered on a large enderman farm. He also built a large endstone structure above the farm, which water pillars are flowing out of, and a large lake-like body of water off the side of the farm.

Chaos Caverns[]

The Chaos Caverns are a collection of intersecting caves that contain various mobs that are rare and/or difficult to transport. These included a ghast, enderman, evoker, witch, and more. Each biome containing a rare mob had its own section; for example, the Nether section contained the ghast and the swamp section contained a witch hut and a witch. These sections were all fully decorated with replicas of generated structures and other biome-defining features.

Hidden Witch Farm (unfinished)[]

The Witch Farm, the project Phil was working on when he died, was originally supposed to be a hidden, underground build spanning several chunks. It contained the beginnings of a witch farm and several beacons. As the underground area was entirely excavated by hand, Phil spent several months working on the project before he died.
